Prof. Gianluca Esposito
PI for the Università degli Studi di Trento

I am a professor and Director of the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science (DiPSCo) at the University of Trento, Italy. As a qualified Developmental Clinical Psychologist, my professional commitment centres on advancing research in child socio-cognitive development, where I bring expertise in human electrophysiology and neuroimaging, complex data modelling, and comparative physiological assessment aimed at studying social interaction.

Throughout my career, I have employed a range of neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, fNIRS, EEG), along with genetic and behavioral protocols, to investigate the nuances of infant socio-cognitive development. My research often focuses on contrasting typical and atypical developmental trajectories. I have also undertaken experimental investigations into caregiver-infant interactions across different mammalian species—including mice, marmosets, and humans—to explore their implications for psychopathology.

My work has not only yielded numerous publications and collaborations but has also gained recognition from various agencies across Europe, Singapore, Japan, the USA, and the UAE.

Prof Claudio Mulatti
I’m a professor of General Psychology at the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science, University of Trento. I have extensive experience in experimental psychology, focusing on the dynamics of cognitive processes such as reading, visual word recognition, word production, written text comprehension, attention, and behavior modification techniques. My academic career, with roles at both the University of Trento and the University of Padua, highlights my commitment to education and the supervision of doctoral projects in experimental psychology. Additionally, I actively collaborate in national and international research groups, contributing to innovative studies in cognitive psychology.

Dr Andrea Bizzego
I am a data scientist with a background in Bioengineering and a PhD in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Trento. My research activity focuses on improving the methodological procedures and reproducibility in neuroscience, mainly focusing on the processing of physiological and behavioral data, and on the application of machine learning and data-driven methods to complex data. Additionally, I work to disseminate and support the adoption of open science practices, from the release of high-quality open source software tools to the sharing of research data and protocols.

MS Alessandro Carollo
I am a third-year PhD student in the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science at the University of Trento. My research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence methods with neuroimaging and physiological data to explore the underlying mechanisms of social interactions across the lifespan. Additionally, I am dedicated to developing standardized methods for fNIRS data analysis in both single and multi-participant studies.
