Workshop: Quantifying Multimodal Approaches to Interactions in Social Neuroscience
🎓 Workshop: Quantifying Multimodal Approaches to Interactions in Social Neuroscience
đź“… Date: September 5th, 2025
🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM CET
📍 Location: University of Warsaw, Faculty of Psychology
👩‍🏫 Led by: Grace Qiyuan Miao (UCLA) – expert in social neuroscience and multimodal communication
🔍 What is this workshop about?
How do people form meaningful connections—with each other and with artificial intelligence?
How does the brain distinguish between deep and superficial social interactions?
In this unique, hands-on workshop, we will explore these questions through multimodal and data-driven approaches in social neuroscience. You’ll learn how to analyze complex human interactions in naturalistic contexts, using advanced tools that link behavior to brain activity.
đź› What will you learn?
Participants will gain practical experience with:
- 🔹 OpenFace & OpenPose – tools for automated analysis of facial expressions and body movements
- 🔹 DIMS Dashboard – synchronizing and visualizing multimodal data streams
- 🔹 fNIRS-based modeling – linking behavioral patterns with brain activity
- 🔹 Conversation analysis – integrating computational methods with qualitative insights
👥 Who is this for?
This workshop is ideal for students and researchers in:
- Psychology
- Neuroscience
- Cognitive science
- Linguistics
- Communication
- Human–AI interaction studies
Whether you’re just beginning with multimodal methods or looking to refine your expertise, this session offers both theoretical grounding and practical skills to support your work.
