UNIVERSITÀ DEGLI STUDI DI TRENTO – Italy
The University of Trento was founded in 1962 and has always aimed at building alliances and reciprocal efficiency with Italian and foreign institutions and organizations. In 1982, the University (until then private) became public, with a statute that guaranteed self-government.
UniTrento aims to recruit young, enthusiastic, qualified, and dynamic researchers: these are the main features that form the basis to drive the research guidelines of its departments and centers toward new and interesting research issues.
Further, it prompts its researchers to create cooperation networks through specific mobility and cooperation programs, aimed at reinforcing the research networks which are fundamental both to update the researchers’ training and to attract new funding opportunities.
UniTrento supports its research structures continuously, spanning from the planning phase to the drafting of the final financial report, through all stages of the increasingly complex and competitive process to access funding for research projects.
Active since 2005, the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science offers an integrated approach to the study of the mind, the brain and human behavior.
By employing methodologies from diverse disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, pedagogy, philosophy, sociology, cultural studies, and cognitive technologies—all of which are central to the cognitive sciences—research and teaching within the Department aim to capture and understand the variables involved in all aspects of human behavior. This interdisciplinary approach is the Department’s greatest strength, as it allows multiple fields to enrich one another, fostering innovative insights and solutions to complex problems. This collaborative synergy drives forward both research and education, offering a more comprehensive understanding of human cognition and behavior.
The Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science (DiPSCo) has been recognized as a Department of excellence by the MUR (Ministry of University and Research) for two consecutive five-year periods.
